JOB DESCRIPTION:

To assist in the development and analysis of accurate actual and forecasted costs for ripe and specialty items, including the update and maintenance, in an ERP system, to support new product data management and maintain existing items. Participate in financial reporting and analysis of operations departments from Receiving through Wastewater and Shipping and Freight Management.

Position Requirements:
Education:

  • A minimum of 4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, Experience: preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Associate Degree in Accounting or similar field, required.
  • BS Degree in Accounting or similar field, highly preferred, and can be substituted for some years of experience required.

Skills/Knowledge/Ability:

  • Intermediate understanding of technical accounting and financial principles
  • Intermediate MS Excel and ERP knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple levels of personnel
  • Ability to prioritize and quickly shift priorities
  • Ability to quickly adapt to dynamic company needs and process changes.
  • Highly organized with developing analytical skills, detail oriented.

Key Result Areas
Objectives / Activities

1. Analysis and Reporting

  • Accurately calculate and report actual labor against expected labor targets.
  • Maintain weekly expense summary distribution and support operations teams, including preparation of subsequent journal entries.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly analysis of financial information for operation teams.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly material usage information and analyze actual versus standard variances.
  • Assist in year-end audit schedule preparations and analysis.
  • Ad Hoc projects as needed.

2. Operations Accounting

  • Reconcile monthly operations general ledger accounts. Research and resolve outstanding balances when necessary.
  • Prepare accurate month end journal entries for product holds, alternative fuel tax credits, and can and lid rebates.
  • Prepare accurate monthly accounts payable accruals.

3. Product Data Management

  • Process PDM changes as requested. Including maintenance of user defined code (UDC) tables in JDE related to item master records.
  • Support Manager Operations Finance in new item set up and costing.
  • Annual review of validity of all inventory items, by type, working closely with the Supply team to ensure correct stocking type is being used.

4. Planning/Standard Costs

  • Develop annual direct labor budgets including updating routers and work center rates in JDE.
  • Develop unassigned and indirect labor budgets working closely with operations team.
  • Participate in the development of the annual departmental budgets.
  • Assist in preparation of specialty item costing
  • Participate in annual standard cost rolls for manufactured and purchased items.

5. Personal Development

  • Analyze and complete self-improvement activities.
  • Develop and maintain an ongoing knowledge of the business.
  • Ad Hoc projects as needed

Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. This position will travel from various facilities where the outside weather conditions can be very cold and wet and very hot and humid. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
