Empower Tehama seeks an experienced Accounting Assistant to provide support for the Accounting Department

Empower Tehama is a nonprofit organization in rural Northern California. Our mission is to promote healthy relationships and social change in our communities. We offer services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence and act as the lead agency for our community’s system for addressing homelessness and community housing.

About the Job: Provides administrative and clerical support for the accounting department and assists with grants management, budgets, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing. Duties include tracking, maintaining files, reporting data, processing expenses, processing payments, reimbursements, and deposits in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).

Must be proficient in Outlook and have working knowledge of Word and Excel. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills. An intermediate understanding of computer systems and QuickBooks is preferred. Strong active listening skills, professional phone etiquette, good decision-making, attention to detail and a non-judgmental attitude required.An applicant who is bilingual in the English/Spanish language is a plus but not an absolute requirement for this position. Employment is contingent on passing a post-hire background check.

This position may be part-time or full-time based on agency needs. Staff may be required to work weekends and/or after hours. Upward mobility is available from this position.
