Job Title: Activities Associate

Job Time Type: Full Time (30 Hours or More)

Job Description:

Initiates and leads Life Enrichment programs for entire campus that embrace and fulfill the social needs and interests of the senior population living and visiting the community.

Minimum eligibility requirements:

  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
  • Must have organizational skills
  • Must have certification as required by State regulations for activities
  • Requires current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Must have experience in planning, organizing and executing a varied schedule of life enrichment opportunities for all levels of seniors from those who are very active to those with cognitive impairments resulting from Alzheimer’s and related dementias
  • Maintain applicable state requirements of dementia specific training
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to represent the community in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with residents, family members and staff
  • High level of ability in effective and succinct communication, written and oral with residents, families, staff, vendors and the general public
  • Must be capable of maintaining fulltime attendance
  • Must meet all health requirements, including TB screening
  • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (essential job functions), with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Essential functions:

  • Work with Life Enrichment Director to develop a balanced rotation of connections and interactions
  • Facilitates interactions between residents
  • Interact with family members to gather detailed biographical information about the resident’s life history, preferences and relationships
  • Model best practice approaches to team members
  • Pursue new and creative ways to keep the essence of the individual in the forefront of interactions
  • Make a significant contribution to the quality of life of the people who live in the community by initiating meaningful connections
  • Perform clerical duties as necessary
  • Attend in-services as scheduled
  • Other duties as assigned by Life Enrichment Director or Executive Director

OSHA Category Classification:

II: Potential for exposure to Bloodborne pathogen

Minimum Age: 18

Hiring Requirements: Drug Testing/Screening, Background Checks, Reference Checks, TB Screening

Education Level: No Minimum Education Requirement

Requires a Driver’s License: Yes, Operator License

Minimum Salary: 13.52 Hour 

Maximum Salary: 14.00 Hour
