Maintenance Assistant

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Assistant is one of our key employees. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Director. This individual will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the building and for all facility systems, including electrical, heating and air conditioning, and plumbing. This individual must be able to perform repairs to the building that require basic carpentry and painting skills to help ensure the building remains in good repair on the interior and exterior.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position must successfully pass all governmental and corporate required background investigations, such as, but not limited to, state required criminal history clearance investigations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition, the individual must have a background in a maintenance or construction related area. The individual must hold a valid drivers license and be insurable to drive the facility van.

Knowledge and proper use of hand tools, power tools, and lawn and garden equipment.
Knowledge of basic household systems.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and residents.
Performs other duties as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use of hands and fingers, to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally this individual may need to assist in lifting and/or moving residents weighing more than 100 pounds with appropriate assistance or equipment.
