Salary: $23.08 – $28.05 Hourly | $1,846.40 – $2,244.00 Biweekly

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate has the ability to provide varied, confidential, and responsible secretarial and office administrative work requiring the use of independent judgment tact, and discretion. The candidate should have knowledge of techniques for dealing effectively with and providing a high level of customer service to all individuals contacted in the course of work.

Additionally, it is critical that the candidate possess the ability to organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, organize his/her own work, set priorities and meet critical time deadlines.

DESCRIPTION:
This is an advanced journey-level classification. Incumbents perform a variety of specialized and confidential administrative, secretarial, and clerical work. This work includes coordinating assigned programs and projects, providing general information to the public, and other administrative, financial recordkeeping database, and support work.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Plans, organizes, and executes administrative assignments and special projects related to assigned area of responsibility; maintaining accurate and detailed records; verifying accuracy of information; researching discrepancies and recording information.
  • Prepares, submits, and receives all claims and requisitions; obtains quotes for specialized supplies and equipment; monitors use and maintenance of supplies and equipment; and/or authorizes payments and purchases.
  • Coordinates and schedules meetings, appointments, and speaking engagements for departmental personnel, appointed boards and commissions; arranges for meeting rooms, may attend meetings and take minutes.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by training in secretarial skills or relevant computer software applications programs.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of increasingly responsible office administrative or advanced secretarial support experience involving some public contact

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

LICENSE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Require a valid California driver’s license.
  • Current, less than 1 year old, typing certificate.

Recruitment Information

The department is currently recruiting for one (1) vacancy.
In addition, Tehama County is also establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for an Administrative Assistant, as well as, any subsequent vacancies that occur throughout the life of the list.

Testing Dates: May 30, 2024 – June 3, 2024. Testing will be provided via email.

Tentative Interview Dates:
1st: Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 8:00am – 10:00am.
2nd: Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.
*Only the most qualified applicants will be invited to an interview.

New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
