Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Programs and Educational Services or designee, the Administrator-Special Projects plans, organizes, coordinates, promotes, and monitors activities related to specialized projects, programs, and grants in the Butte County Office of Education and performs other related duties as assigned. The Administrator provides leadership as the project manager on grant implementation; oversees all aspects of grant programs including, researching, writing, planning, communication and reporting. The Administrator participates in technical assistance and staff development opportunities for district and schools.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: (May include, but is not limited to the following)
1. Develops and maintains a professional support program that enables participants to acquire skills and knowledge contained in grant proposals
2. Coordinates with district, county, regional, and/or state agencies as needed to implement program/project requirements
3. Oversees periodic program evaluations and presents reports with recommendations for program improvement
4. Establishes and maintains a communication plan to disseminate information and provide feedback for project/program participants
5. Develops and provides professional development and training to meet program goals and support
6. Coordinates information and assistance for development/adoption of program standards, curriculum frameworks, curriculum resources and assessments, such as performance-based outcomes, rubrics, and multidimensional assessment instruments
7. Contributes to Coordinated District Support team in providing all levels of support and technical assistance for schools and districts; collection and analysis of data, facilitating leadership teams, engaging with continuous improvement processes
8. Assists division leadership team in improving coordination and communication throughout the organization, as well as, growth in organizational efficiency
9. Maintains accurate records, completes required reports and administers budgets
10. Researches, identifies, develops and responds to public and private grant opportunities appropriate for the division
11. Negotiates and administrates contractual and operational agreements in compliance with grant and program requirements
12. Establishes and maintains liaisons with universities, school districts, county offices of education, state agencies, and other partners
13. Performs other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required
14. Supervises and evaluates program staff
15. Ongoing research and development of grant/projects

1. Valid and unexpired California Teaching Credential
2. Possess a valid and unexpired California Administrative Services Credential or qualify for enrollment in an approved California Administrative Services Internship Credential program
3. Master’s Degree in Education preferred
4. California Driver’s License

1. Successful experience as an education administrator, project coordinator, or leadership role
2. Demonstrated expertise in some or all of the following areas: K-12 teaching, curriculum, staff development, assessment and accountability, Special Education and Alternative Education programs, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), educational continuous improvement, equity-based decision making
3. Budget development and monitoring preferred
