Overview

The Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for Concessions Supervisor. This is a full-time, 10-month per year (1600 hours), non-exempt position. The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $21.00/hr; new hires typically start at the beginning of the range. The schedule will in large part be event-driven, may change weekly and will include some nights and weekends. The schedule is subject to change based on operational needs.

The Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU,Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. With an annual budget of more than $21M, the AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union, the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC), and administers the contract for the Wildcat Store (bookstore). CONCESSIONS SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY

Under direction of the Retail Dining Assistant Director, the Concessions Supervisor has overall responsibility for daily food service of The Cat Chow – Food Cart and the operations of the Concessions Stands during sporting events at Acker Gym and Nettleton Stadium. In general, this is a customer facing, service-oriented position, with the responsibilities of basic food preparation, directing the work of student assistants and maintaining a clean and sanitary facility and work environment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares a variety of food items and performs a variety of food service functions.
  • Maintains high quality products and prevents waste during food preparation.
  • Operates food service equipment.
  • Transports food, supplies and other necessary equipment from main kitchen to the Concession Stands or Food Cart, ensuring timeliness of set-up and tear-down.
  • Monitors inventory levels determining serving requirements to ensure availability of menu items.  Restocks as needed.
  • Monitors food presentation, food safety, food quality, customer service, comments and complaints. Responds appropriately and advises management as required.
  • Trains and supervises Concessions student staff.
  • Ensures the maintenance and use of proper sanitation and work safety standards.
  • Ensures proper cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Monitors equipment function and reports problems requiring maintenance or repair.
  • Follows and enforces all organizational and department policies and procedures.
  • Represents Dining Services with the campus community, other organizations, and the public, establishing and maintaining good customer relations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a restaurant and kitchen environment or otherwise weather-protected environment with occasional warmth due to weather and heat generated by kitchen equipment; stand for long periods; lift and move product from main kitchens to satellite concessions operations; some exposure to heat, cold, and moisture; frequent contact with staff, campus community, and public.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.MINIMUM EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience in food service operations.
  • Six (6) months of full-time experience or equivalent in a lead or supervisory position.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must currently have a California Food Handlers Card or a Serv Safe Certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a current and valid California Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.  Associated Students will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals any disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.   Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current Associated Students employees who apply for the position.
