Overview
Collins Pine Company is looking to hire Boiler Operators for their mill location in Lakeview, OR.
Position Summary:
The Boiler Operator performs system checks and maintenance to ensure continuous heat and pressure to dry lumber.
Salary: $21.60 per hour
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Comply with safety standards at all times and correct/report any observed safety hazards.
- Ensures adequate supply of hog fuel.
- Check for steam leaks between each charge and repair, or schedule for repair, immediately.
- Maintains high standard of housekeeping.
- Learn all aspects of boiler operations including but not limited to necessary documentation.
- Complete Moisture Content Analysis to ensure correct moisture levels.
- Assist with night patrol and fire watch.
- Understand the basics of drying lumber.
- Strive for continuous quality and production improvement with a positive attitude and innovative thinking.
- Work independently without supervision.
- Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
- On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.
Position Requirements:
Must meet position requirements to be considered a candidate for this position.
- Must be over the age of eighteen (18).
- Previous boiler operation preferred.
- Ability to work a nonstandard shift and variable hours depending on the needs of the business unit.
- Position serves on holidays and weekends..
- Must be available for call-in and for back-up as needed.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and operate mobile equipment.
- Ability to follow all company, state and federal safety rules when performing required job duties.
- The ability to pass a pre-employment criminal history check and a pre-employment drug screening.
- A valid driver’s license is required to drive employees to complete security rounds.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report
Environmental Conditions:
May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all required times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include, but are not limited to hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, and a face shield.
