Position: Business Manager

Location: Modoc Resource Conservation District

Salary: $20 – $28 per hour (DOE) with potential increase after six months

The Modoc Resource Conservation District invites applications for the position of Part-Time Business Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a passionate team dedicated to conservation efforts in our community. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing financial operations, administrative tasks, and contributing to the District’s overall success.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Manage budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting processes.
    • Monitor expenses, prepare financial statements, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
    • Oversee payroll processing and vendor payments.
  2. Administrative Support:
    • Coordinate office activities and administrative functions.
    • Manage correspondence, documentation, and record-keeping systems.
    • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and events.
  3. Human Resources:
    • Support recruitment processes, including posting job openings and scheduling interviews.
    • Assist with employee onboarding and maintaining personnel records.
    • Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.
  4. Grant Management:
    • Research funding opportunities and assist in grant application processes.
    • Monitor grant requirements and prepare reports as necessary.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Liaise with staff, board members, and external stakeholders.
    • Facilitate effective communication within the organization.
    • Collaborate with team members on various projects and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or related roles.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in grant management and/or nonprofit organizations is a plus.
  • Commitment to conservation principles and environmental stewardship.
