Empower Tehama seeks an experienced Advocate to join the team of a dynamic and growing organization in Red Bluff, CA. The CalWORKs Advocate provides services for victims of domestic violence referred through the CalWORKs program and compiles all necessary reporting per contract requirements. This position operates to provide co-located service with an office space at the Tehama County Department of Social Services.
About the Job: The CalWORKs Advocate will provide co-located services domestic violence victims in obtaining protective orders and child custody orders and provide Family Court advocacy, including pre-court orientation, court advocacy and accompaniment, mediation advocacy and accompaniment, recording court decisions, and posting decisions to participant files. The CalWORKs Advocate will provide education on ET family law program during certification training; develop and maintain an effective working relationship with Family Court staff including Superior Court office clerks, judges and mediators; stay current on legislation and county court rules as it relates to legal assistance for domestic violence and provide domestic violence crisis counseling as needed.
Must be able to work with a broad range of people and maintain an environment that is conducive to serving high-risk populations and people in crisis. Strong active listening skills, good decision-making, a non-judgmental and accepting attitude, and attention to detail.
