Job Description:

Nature & scope

Provides direct care to residents as outlined in the customized service plan and as defined through Cascade Living Group policy and training.

Minimum eligibility requirements

  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
  • Must possess current first aid and CPR certification
  • Maintain eight hours of Alzheimer’s and related dementia-specific training per year
  • Previous experience working with the elderly
  • Criminal Record Clearance or Criminal Record Exemption
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate with residents, family and friends
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • High level of ability in effective and succinct communication, written and oral with residents, families, staff, vendors and the general public
  • Must be capable of maintaining fulltime attendance
  • Must meet all health requirements, including TB screening
  • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities (essential job functions), with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must have valid transportation

Essential functions

  • Be accountable for the care of the people in a designated area of the building
  • Maintain good lighting, temperature and safety for the people assigned to you
  • Ensure apartments are orderly and tidy, trash is emptied and personal care items are properly stored
  • Complete laundry tasks
  • Maintain resident clothing and closet in a clean, neat and orderly manner
  • Makes beds daily
  • Change resident bed linens weekly and as needed due to resident needs
  • Assists people from bed to breakfast
  • Take residents to the bathroom, wash hands, comb hair, denture/oral care and dress
  • Notify housekeeping of spills, soiled areas, assist with clean up as needed
  • Complete clean up in the absence of housekeeping staff
  • Notify maintenance of items that need repair or present a safety risk to clients, employees or visitors
  • Maintain common areas of the building in an orderly manner
  • Promote customer service and positive community relations by treating residents, families, team members, and visitors in a courteous, helpful and friendly manner
  • Set dining room tables
  • Serve and assist residents with eating
  • Clear tables, tidy dining room, sweep & mop floors
  • Conduct life enrichment sessions
  • Assist resident who have been napping to get up for dinner
  • Restock resident supplies as needed
  • Clean assistive devices, including walkers & wheelchairs, as needed
  • Utilize every opportunity to make a meaningful connection with clients
  • Read and follow customized service plans and updates
  • Complete all forms and documentation such as change of condition reports, behavior tracking in a timely manner
  • Become knowledgeable about the residents’ biographies, preferences, habits and interests
  • Attend in-services
  • Observe residents for changes of condition, communicates observations to the charge nurse or Wellness Director
  • Meet and greet new residents and their family members as we3ll as tour guests
  • Make a significant contribution to the quality of life of the people who live in the community by initiating meaningful connections
  • Other duties as assigned by Charge Nurse, Wellness Director or Associate Executive Director

Minimum Age: 18

Education Level: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Requires a Driver’s License: Yes

Minimum Salary: 15.00 Hour

Maximum Salary: 15.50 Hour
