POSITION: Marketing and Development Manager
STATUS:  Full-time (30 hours per week) / Benefitted / Hourly / Non-Exempt
COMPENSATION:  $30.00 – $32.00 per hour
DEPARTMENT:  Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
LOCATION:  OLLI Office, 118B Aymer J. Hamilton Building, Chico State University campus
RESIDENCY: Candidate must be a California resident. Chico State Enterprises is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions (i.e. H-1B Visas).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Under the direction of the OLLI program director, the marketing and development manager leads OLLI marketing, fundraising, and event planning activities with the goal of growing OLLI membership and revenue. The marketing and development manager works cooperatively with OLLI staff, OLLI volunteer leadership, and the wider Chico State community. The marketing and development manager may attend occasional evening or weekend events.

Marketing & Communications Support:

·         Use strong communication and marketing skills to grow membership and build the OLLI brand in Chico and the wider North State area.

·         Identify and coordinate market information on behalf of OLLI.

·         Create and implement a marketing, advertising, social media, and public relations strategy in partnership with the Professional & Continuing Education (PCE) marketing team.

·         Lead outreach activities for the purpose of building stronger relationships on campus and in the community.

·         Develop and implement strategies to attract members in the 50-65 age bracket.

·         Use campus and community resources to expand programming opportunities.

·         Plan and support content development for class catalogs and marketing/communications materials.

·         Expand OLLI presence on social media.

·         Work with OLLI volunteer outreach committee to generate ideas for meeting outreach and marketing goals.

Fundraising & Development Support:

·         Work with OLLI program director to develop and implement fundraising goals and plans.

·         Adopt strategies and campaigns that reflect OLLI’s mission.

·         Improve and formalize existing individual donor and business sponsor cultivation cycle and process.

·         Lean on OLLI partnership with University Advancement to become proficient in using campus research tools for cultivating gifts for OLLI.

·         Meet annual fundraising targets through strategic campaigns and cultivation tactics.

·         Assist in the creation of new revenue-generating programs.

·         Assist with grant and proposal writing.

·         Work with OLLI volunteer fundraising committee to generate ideas and meet fundraising goals.

Event Support:

·         Plan, coordinate, and promote special events in conjunction with marketing and communications plans.

·         Support program manager in communicating with all vendors and suppliers before, during, and after the event and ensuring that event complies with insurance, health, and safety standards.

·         Coordinate with volunteers to plan and implement event setup and activities.

·         Handle problems that arise to help the event run smoothly.

·         Lead debrief with event point-persons after each event: what went well, where can we improve.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
·         Requires strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

·         Administrative experience with a volunteer-led organization highly desired.

·         Minimum of three years full-time experience in marketing and development, including client/member recruitment and retention, marketing plan implementation, and fundraising.

·         Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Advanced writing and editorial skills.

·         The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community of older adults.

·         Demonstrated team-oriented planning and leadership skills.

·         Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research data and findings.

·         Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Video Conferencing Software (Zoom), as well as social media.

·         Comfortable learning, implementing, and documenting new software processes.

·         Marketing and fundraising experience.

·         Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.

·         Ability to organize resources and establish priorities.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS:
·         Candidate must be in possession of valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance. Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (driving record) is required. The candidate will be required to update their insurance with Chico State Enterprises Human Resources when necessary.

·         Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Chico State Enterprises will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current Chico State Enterprises employee who was conditionally offered the position.

BENEFITS:
Benefits for employees working 30 hours or more per week include employer paid life insurance ($50,000) and long-term disability; options for health, dental, and vision insurance; FSA; 14 paid holidays including 1 personal holiday; vacation accrual (initially 10 days/year); sick leave (up to 12 days/year); employer contributions to your 403(b) retirement plan (up to 8%).
