Child Support Specialist I Bilingual
$18.94 – $23.02 Hourly / $1,515.40 – $1,841.97 Biweekly
Child Support Specialist II Bilingual
$20.91 – $25.41 Hourly / $1,672.71 – $2,033.20 Biweekly
Bilingual pay is +7.5% above the Child Support Specialist I/II salary
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Tehama Department of Child Support Services is looking for a positive, professional team member with exceptional attendance, strong customer service and communication skills, a desire to learn, and established computer skills. Experience serving the public, working with families, and knowledge of community resources serving parents and families is highly desirable.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Performs a wide variety of child support duties consisting of maintaining a caseload, locating and interviewing custodial and non-custodial parents and others to elicit factual information for the purpose of establishing child support obligations and enforcing child support laws; arranges for support payments; prepares cases for court hearings as necessary; and performs related work
as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & LICENSES:
In addition to the education and experience requirements specified in the Merit Systems/Cooperative Personnel Services classification specification, Tehama County requires:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade
LICENSE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a valid California Class C driver’s license.
- Due to IRS Publication 1075 Guidelines as established by the Federal Government andrequired by California Department of Child Support Services, all employees will be subjectto a background check at the time of hiring and at least every 5 years.
- Must be able to fluently speak and read Spanish. Must pass a Merit Systems Services written and/or oral bilingual proficiency test (or other appropriate) to qualify.
Employees who are deemed eligible for a bilingual pay designation must successfully complete the required bilingual proficiency examination first.

Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Bilingual Child Support Specialist I/II, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
