JOB OPPORTUNITY:
The Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a qualified candidate to fill one (1) vacancy for
the position of Health Educator. This position is classified as permanent full-time. A standard application is required.

qualifications may be invited to an oral interview.
This recruitment will establish a list of candidates to be used in filling the vacancy as well as an eligibility list that may be used
for future vacancies or temporary help for up to one (1) year. Application will be accepted until 5:00pm on August 19,
2020.
CORE COMPETENCE:
The Health Educator participates in the planning, organizing and evaluating of various public health programs; provides
group and individual educational counseling for tobacco cessation and other health related issues. The incumbent of this
position will determine the materials and resources necessary, such as facilities for presenting programs, and including
contacting organizations and community groups for scheduling purposes. Conducts in-service training of other health and
human service and health professionals in assigned programs.

REQUIREMENTS:
 Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
 Ability to work weekends, evenings, or other hours necessary to present programs to a variety of groups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Health Educator I-
 College coursework that includes 30 semester units in health and/or human services, sociology, or closely
related field and
 One (1) year experience in a health or human service agency performing counseling or health related education
services.
Health Educator II-
 In addition to the qualifications for Health Educator I, one (1) year experience as a Health Educator I, or two (2)
years in a comparable position.

Driver's License Required: Yes
