Overview

Modoc Medical Center is accepting applications for a Director of Staff Development at its Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). The primary job function will be to provide orientation, continuing education and training to nursing assistants and other facility staff. This position is full time and benefit eligible.

Salary: Dependent on Experience (DOE)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifies short and long term goals of the in-service education program of the facility
  • Develops orientation programs with objectives, contents, schedules and methods of evaluation for all new and current employees of the facility
  • Provides the required minimum hours of mandatory in-service education required each year to employees of the facility
  • Maintains current educational records to included but not limited to classes held, attendance, clinical performances, written tests and evaluation forms
  • Assists with the development of policies, procedures related to facility education
  • Participates in academic activities which further professional growth and development
  • Assists in preparing a budget to meet the objectives of the in-service education program
  • Participates in a continuous analysis and evaluation of the education services rendered. Recommends and participates in studies of the quality of nursing service and staffing utilization studies

Qualifications & Job Requirements (but not limited to):

  • Current CA licensed nurse with active CPR certification and one year experience in planning, implementing and evaluating education programs in the field of nursing
  • DSD course certificate of completion preferred
  • Above average mental ability, good physical/mental health with previous experience in a long term care facility
  • Able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Dependable, organized, reliable, with good attendance. Relates well with co-workers, staff and residents
  • Shows adaptability to varied situations, is empathetic, enthusiastic, creative and a resourceful personality
  • Ability to walk, bend and lift and have the dexterity to perform the manual skills required for SNF care
