JOB TITLE: Classroom Teacher – Grades 7-12, Mathematics, beginning Immediately

DESCRIPTION: Under direct supervision of the K-12 school site administrator and/or designee, a credentialed teacher will provide an educational program for pupils in grades seven through twelve in a departmentalized school environment. Assignment may include: Algebra, Geometry and advanced mathematics. Grade 7-12 student enrollment is approximately 20 with four certificated teachers and support personnel. The employee will provide an educational environment that encourages productive, responsible citizens and is accountable for the safety and welfare of all students.

  • Highly qualified to teach subject areas
  • Willingness to commit to the Governing Board of the Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District mission and educational philosophy
  • Ability to utilize a variety of specialized methodology in teaching and instructing students
  • Experience in identifying students appropriate to the response to intervention referral process
  • Experience in monitoring the progress of students on a regular basis and participate in the review of student progress and readiness for grade promotion
  • Ability to identify unique student needs and implement appropriate support instruction
  • Knowledge of appropriate methods of student discipline
  • Ability to effectively communicate.

LOCATION: Junior-Senior High School, Downieville, CA, for Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District, Sierra County Applicant must appreciate a rural community environment.

BENEFITS: Full health insurance benefits; CalSTRS retirement; sick leave ASSIGNMENT: Full time, 182 day work year, traditional school calendar August-June; 10 month employee

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Possession of or qualify for a valid California Single Subject Mathematics Credential or major/minor and/or teaching experience in these subjects; District is agreeable to work with personnel in securing appropriate credentials
  • English Language Learner (CLAD-BCLAD certified); NCLB Compliant
  • Knowledge of California Curriculum Standards and framework for secondary grade levels

SALARY: Up to $76,594 per year beginning salary.
