Job Title: Eligibility Specialist II

Location: Alturas, CA (in-person only; not eligible for remote/telework)
Job Type: Full-Time, 37.5 hrs/week
Pay: $3,288.00 – $4,197.00/month (Steps A-F)
Description:
Modoc County Department of Social Services is accepting applications for an Eligibility Specialist II, the journey-level classification in the Eligibility Specialist series. This position independently handles more complex eligibility tasks and caseloads, determining eligibility for public assistance programs through interactive interviewing and case analysis.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct interviews to determine eligibility for public assistance programs
- Analyze financial and eligibility information for multiple aid programs
- Explain regulations, rights, and responsibilities to clients
- Enter and maintain case records and data in automated systems
- Monitor ongoing eligibility and process changes as needed
- Identify suspected fraud and make appropriate referrals
Qualifications (either of the following):
- One year full-time experience as an Eligibility Specialist I in an Interagency Merit System (IMS) county, OR
- Two years of full-time experience determining eligibility for public assistance programs in a public human services agency
- Valid CA driver’s license may be required; pre-employment drug testing, physical, and fingerprinting for background investigation may be required
