Job Description: The Modoc National Forest Service is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Engineering Equipment Operator Helper. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic outdoor environment, contributing to essential operations within the forest.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Engineering Equipment Operators in the operation and maintenance of various heavy equipment, including bulldozers, graders, and excavators.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, such as lubricating, cleaning, and minor repairs, under the guidance of experienced operators.
  • Help to ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery, adhering to established safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with the transportation of equipment to job sites and the set-up and breakdown of work areas as needed.
  • Support forestry and land management projects, including road maintenance, trail construction, and wildfire mitigation efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to accomplish project goals in a timely and effective manner, fostering a culture of teamwork and camaraderie.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects as required.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
