Overview
Position Title: Apprentice/Journeyman Crew Member
Position Purpose and Objectives:
The role entails a wide range of tasks, from basic to difficult to hazardous. These may include clearing and preparing a site; building scaffolds, barricades, bracing, and other structures; and operating concrete mixers, jackhammers, saws, drills, and more. The experienced crew member directly reports to the Superintendent.
Specific Duties, Functions and Responsibility:
- Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards.
- Load and unload building materials and equipment.
- Dig trenches, backfill holes, and compact earth in preparation for construction.
- Operate and control heavy-duty equipment and machinery like bulldozers, cranes, and excavators.
- Build or take apart bracing, barricades, forms, scaffolding, and other structures.
- Follow construction plans, blueprints, and instructions provided by coworkers.
- Installing steel infrastructure by bolting, wiring, and welding elements together according to the design specifications.
- Constructing steel frames, supports, columns, concrete reinforcements, and other steel structures.
- Preparing for installation by measuring, cutting, aligning, and placing steel structures.
- Participate in all assigned training.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings.
- Complete all position certifications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions according to company and OSHA standards, using equipment and materials appropriately.
- Attention to detail and quality assurance of project and crew members.
- Demonstrates the ability to meet and exceed standards, works quickly and accurately.
- Must be able to work well with others and within a company system.
- Exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views.
- Shares expertise with others.
- All other duties assigned.
Education and Experience:
Essential
- Three (3) years of experience in construction field
- High-school diploma or GED Certificate
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to use/learn business technology
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred
- Bilingual fluency
- OSHA 30-hour card
- Completion of a certified apprenticeship program
Physical Requirements
Involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds often combined with bending, twisting, or working on irregular surfaces; and occasionally requires extraordinary physical activity. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the described essential functions.
Starting Hourly Wage: $25+DOE
