The Chester Fire Department is seeking a full time Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician to work a 48/96 work period. The position will serve an 18 month probation. Firefighter/EMT will perform fire suppression, prevention, and rescue activities for protecting life, property, and the environment. Will also provide Basic Life Support to the ill and injured in the prehospital setting and during inter-facility transfers. May be required to respond to alarms during non duty hours on a emergency basis or when staffing needs augmented. Other duties as assigned; full job description available upon request.

Be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of employment.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Pass periodic physical fitness performance tests, alcohol and/or drug screens, and performance exams administered by Chester Fire Department or designated facility.
Maintain a state of physical fitness commensurate with the requirements necessary to complete all tasks.
Work in and around hazardous environments where coordination is required.
Use no substances, prescription or non-prescription, that may affect ability to operate emergency vehicles or to perform safe, effective patient care.
Required Licenses or Certificates
California Firefighter 1 or equivalent.
Current certification as a Nor-Cal EMS Emergency Medical Technician.
Current CPR card.
Class C California Driver’s License in good standing with DMV.
The ability to upgrade Driver’s License to a Firefighter C or Class B license.
