Overview

The hospital scheduling coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation and flow of calls handled within the scheduling area.  The scheduler will work to enhance customer service by comprehensive coordination of pre-procedure processes. This may include verifying all preparations have been completed prior to the visit, prior authorization and financial counseling have been done and ensuring current History and Physical, and orders are available.  Duties include scheduling all hospital procedures, diagnostic tests, surgeries, and reviewing the required preparation requirements and instructions prior to procedures. The scheduler must have excellent communication with both the patient and provider regarding coordination issues and work to coordinate the provider’s clinic schedule with the hospital schedule to maximize efficiency. Additional Application:

Preferred Education: High School Diploma, Current CPR certification is preferred. Experience: Two years in the medical field and familiarity with medical terminology. Working knowledge of the hospital scheduling system preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent reading, writing and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; excellent customer service skills; ability to use a computer proficiently; ability to type a minimum of 25 wpm and use a 10-key by sight; ability to work professionally with patients, staff and management. Has an eye for detail and extensive problem solving skills. Must be able to prioritize, concentrate and multitask.
