JOB SUMMARY: Instruction of beginner to advanced level skiing and snowboarding.

JOB DUTIES: The primary function of an instructor is to create a positive learning experience for the customer. This is accomplished by using the teaching guidelines described in the Ski Park Learning Center Manual and the PSIA/AASI resources. As an instructor you will be expected to handle different class sizes, demonstrate patience and make your classes a fun experience. Other duties include greeting guests; assisting sign ups, snow removal, and other duties as assigned. The instructor must work well under pressure and shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior towards co-workers, supervisors and guests. Other duties as assigned, may include working in other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age or 16 with a current work permit and successfully pass a criminal background check. Must be able to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level. The instructor must provide his or her own ski or snowboard equipment.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT: The elevation of Mt. Shasta Ski Park ranges from 5,500 Ft. to 6,800 Ft. Winter conditions can be extreme with sub freezing temperatures, high winds, heavy snow and low visibility. The instructor is expected to work 6 to 8 hours a day in these conditions. Uniform items will be issued.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The instructor must be able to ski or board for up to 8 hours a day.
While teaching, you may be required to ski or board backwards, lift 40 pounds, twist, bend and pick up children and equipment.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full or part time seasonal position. Depending on snow conditions, the season usually runs from mid December through mid April. Fulltime and part time instructor schedules are available and may include weekends, holidays and some evenings. Shifts typically start at 8:30 am. Schedules are subject to change depending on the needs of the Ski Park.

REPORTS TO: These positions report to the Learning Center Manager and or Learning Center Team Leader.

BENEFITS: This is non-exempt hourly position. First season pay is $16/hour -17/hour . Benefits include season pass and food/retail discounts
