JOB SUMMARY: Cleaning the base area facilities and surrounding areas.
JOB DUTIES: The essential function of this job involves cleaning the base lodge area, dining areas, bar, bathrooms, and patio area. This position involves trash collection, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, bathroom stocking, window washing, parking lot detail, and snow shoveling on the patio. In addition, this individual must interact with customers in a friendly and helpful manner that promotes the best interests of the Ski Park. The employee must work well under pressure and continuously demonstrate cooperative behavior towards coworkers and supervisors and guests. Other duties as assigned, may include working in other departments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age or at least 16 with a current work permit. Must be self motivated with an eye for details. Sanitation service experience is preferred, but not required. All sanitation department employees may be required to pass a criminal background check after an initial offer of employment is made, before keys are issued.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT: The elevation of Mt. Shasta Ski Park is 5,500 feet.
Winter conditions can be severe with sub zero temperatures, high wind and heavy snow. A percentage of the workday may be spent working in these conditions. The remainder of the workday is spent inside cleaning a customer filled and busy lodge.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS: Must be in good physical condition. The employee must be able to bend, twist, climb stairs and ladders, scrub, mop and do various cleaning tasks for up to 8 hours per day. In addition, this employee must be able to shovel snow for 2 hours and pick up 40-pound boxes, bags and other cleaning equipment.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full or part time position that requires the employee to work weekends, holidays and some evenings. Day, swing or night shifts are available. Day shifts typically begin at 7:00 am. Night shifts usually end at 5am. The season length depends on weather and snow conditions. Typically, the season runs from mid December to mid April. The employee is expected to arrive on time everyday and stay until the end of their scheduled shift. Schedules may change
without notice depending on the work requirements and the needs of the Ski Park.
REPORTS TO: This position reports to the Facility Supervisor.
BENEFITS: This is a non-exempt seasonal hourly position. Pay is $16/hr – $17/hr and is based on experience and prior Mt. Shasta Ski Park employment. Benefits also include season pass and food/retail discounts.
