The Landfill Equipment Operator performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the construction and
maintenance of the landfill system. The major duties of the job include:
• Safely operate a wide variety of heavy equipment at landfills and transfer stations.
• Make minor adjustments on service equipment.
• Maintain tools and equipment in working order.
• Participate in brush removal and drainage control.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or its equivalent supplemented by specialized courses in heavy equipment operations and maintenance.
Experience: One year of experience operating bulldozers, front-end loaders, dump trucks, scrapers and/or related
heavy equipment.
License: Possession of a Class B or A driver’s license or ability to obtain Class B or A license within six
months of date of hire.
