Overview

The LVN/CNA is responsible for organizing the desk activities at the nurses’ station. Answers incoming phone calls.  The employee in this position is responsible for obtaining/updating patient demographic and insurance information, registration of Emergency Department visits, insurance verification and coverage, initiating the authorization process for inpatient stays, scanning protected information, collection of co-pays and notifying Patient Financial Counselors of any self-pay or under insured patients. This employee arranges transfers to acute and long term facilities, and assists in scanning charts into the patient’s EMR. They serve as a cardiac monitoring technician and monitors other central monitoring, relaying important changes to the ancillary department staff.

In the role as the LVN/CNA and under the supervision of the RN, the LVN/CNA may give patient care.  He/she may perform selected nursing procedures as defined in the LVN or CNA legal scope of practice.  Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LVN/CNA provides a support function to the nurse by coordinating special tasks and assisting where needed. This includes in the Emergency Department, Medical Surgical, or Labor and Delivery. The LVN/CNA collaborates with other members of the patient care team to provide care in accordance with the medical plan of care.  Must demonstrate technical competence, communication skills and sensitivity for the hospitalized patient and family.  Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Please note the starting wage for the position is depedent on current certification held and experience.

LVN Pay Scale: $21.98-$28.05

CNA Pay Scale: $15.33-$19.57

Additional Application:

Current LVN or C.N.A. licensure. Current BLS level CPR certification. Able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Is dependable, reliable with good attendance and the ability to work with others, at all levels within the organization, and collaborate effectively. Above-average interpersonal, problem-solving, and written and oral communication skills. Must be a team player to all departments, confidential of sensitive data, respectful of all other staff members, considerate of other people’s time, and accountable for work output.
