Overview

The Modoc County Road Department has openings for Flaggers, Alturas, Lookout, Davis Creek, Newell and Cedarville. Flaggers work during May through September, or some portion thereof, to assist Road Crews with large construction/renovation projects, as well as the increased maintenance activities during this period. Flaggers regulate traffic flow through construction zones, and assist with hand work. They also participate in maintenance activities such as brush/tree trimming; culvert/ditch/gutter cleaning; pothole patching; sign/guardrail/fence repair; and equipment and shop maintenance. Related experience is preferred, and habits of organization and punctuality are required. Skills required include: understanding and following oral and written directions; walking and standing for extended periods; working in rough terrain; performing physical labor; and using/maintaining hand tools.  This position requires a valid “Class C” Drivers License and must be 18 years or older.
