Position Title: Natural Resource Summer Intern

Location: Alturas, California

Hourly Rate: $16.50 – $18.00 (DOE) with an increase in four (4) months with favorable job performance. This part-time position offers a flexible schedule and the ability to work within a fun, fast-paced, positive environment. Internship length time frame willbe dependent on interns availability & scheduling.

Modoc County is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Natural Resource Summer Interns. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of natural resource management projects under the guidance of seasoned professionals.
  • Conduct field surveys to assess vegetation, wildlife, and water resources, contributing valuable data to ongoing conservation efforts.
  • Participate in habitat restoration initiatives, including invasive species removal, reforestation, and erosion control projects.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement sustainable land management practices.
  • Engage with local communities through educational outreach programs, raising awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.
  • Support administrative tasks such as data entry, report generation, and project documentation to ensure the smooth operation of natural resource initiatives.


  • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to environmental science, natural resource management, ecology, or a related field.
  • Strong passion for environmental conservation and a genuine interest in preserving our planet’s natural beauty.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic and challenging environments.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and GIS software, is desirable but not required.
  • Prior experience in fieldwork or environmental research is advantageous but not essential – we welcome candidates with a willingness to learn and grow!
