Bilingual requirement (English/Spanish)
This position is bilingual and requires duties to be carried out in both English and Spanish. The job offer will be contingent upon passing test(s) evaluating your proficiency in the bilingual requirements of the position. This position may receive a 5% differential pay based on passing the required language test.

What you need to qualify

Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients, and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines that are applicable to the client’s situation.
Any college courses may be substituted for the two years of general experience on a year-for-year basis (45 quarter hours is equivalent to one year of experience)
Bilingual in English and Spanish (the job offer will be contingent upon passing test(s) evaluating your proficiency in the bilingual requirements of the position).

Your duties at a glance

As a Benefit and Eligibility Worker, you will:

Determine financial eligibility for Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) programs.
Process applications that are new and re-certifying by reviewing the applicant’s financial and non-financial situations.
Determine eligibility correctly and in a timely manner by following complex rules and policies.
Referring applicants with additional needs to appropriate agencies.
Working conditions

Majority of your work is in the district office setting.
After training completion, you may have the opportunity, with manager approval, to work a hybrid schedule that would include 4/5 days a week in office and 1/5 days a week of remote work.
You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.

A valid Driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.

The Oregon Department of Human Services does not offer visa sponsorship. Within three days of hire, you will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Security’s I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODHS will use E-Verify to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
