Overview
Willow Creek Community Health Center, part of Open Door Community Health Centers, is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving California’s North Coast. Since opening its doors in 1971, Open Door has expanded access to care and built lasting connections within rural communities.
Located along the Trinity River, Willow Creek is a small, close-knit mountain community known for its scenic landscapes, rich cultural history, and proximity to local Tribal lands. Providers have the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population, including Native communities, and to practice with a deep respect for culture, continuity, and community voice.
In this setting—often recognized as the “Gateway to Bigfoot Country”—life moves at a different pace. Staff frequently care for multiple generations of the same families, fostering meaningful, long-term relationships. Care is delivered through a collaborative, team-based model where access challenges and geographic distance make each patient interaction more personal—and often more impactful.
