Overview
Typical Working Environment:
Exposure to outside elements as a driver or companion to individuals as they go about their daily routine. A typical day may include a walk, grocery shopping or Doctor Appointments. An assignment to Lawn Crew may include assisting the individuals in cutting grass, weed eating or carrying of lawn materials.
In home environment may include assisting individuals in housecleaning, personal hygiene or laundry routines, food prep and storage and medical needs such as administration of medications and shots (as required). You may be exposed to secondhand smoke, wood stoves, monitor heaters, pet dander and other household substances that could affect allergies.
Equipment Used most often:
Household equipment including but not limited to vacuum cleaners, manual cleaning devices, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, etc.
Medical equipment including Oxygen equipment, CPAP machine, BP monitor, BSL & insulin kits, Lifts; manual in home, electric bath, van lifts, thermometers, bedrails and wheelchairs.
Lawn Equipment such as mowers, weed eaters etc.
Other various equipment such as garage door openers, various hand tools, etc.
Essential Physical Tasks:
Supporting over 25 lbs.
Taking wheelchairs in and out of vehicles
Assisting individuals out of vehicle and into wheelchair
Carrying shopping items in and out of vehicles
Assisting individuals in the home from one room to another; in and out of bath or to commode.
Supporting over 50 lbs.
Lifting individuals due to health and safety repositioning
Pushing wheelchair bound individuals
Pushing, pulling manual lift with individuals
While assisting individuals to walk, they may pull, fall, jerk body etc.
Repetitive Motion:
Bending, stooping for long periods of time in assisting individuals
Standing for long periods of time
Sitting for long periods of time
Mopping, Sweeping and other household cleaning motions
