We proudly source local Grass-Fed and Organic Cow and Goat Milk and use traditional manufacturing processes to achieve superior quality and flavor in our award winning butter, yogurt, cheese, and cream cheese products.

Join Us ….. Sierra Nevada Cheese Company is looking for an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic whose primary role is to keep the plant equipment in working condition. Responsibilities include reducing downtime on operating lines by performing preventive maintenance duties and providing corrective technical support for equipment and facilities. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is actively involved in and support of the creamery’s safety program.

Summary:

 Responsible for keeping plant equipment in working condition  Responsible for ensuring that production flow and efficiency is optimum at all times  Ability to work in a team environment. Must work side by side with others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Primary Responsibilities:  Maintain and repair production equipment  Maintain and repair plant support equipment, compressed air systems, electrical, mechanical and boiler  Perform trouble shooting, repairs and preventative maintenance on production equipment  Maintain a clean and safe plant  Complete necessary documentation on maintenance forms, preventative maintenance, purchase orders, etc.  Coordinate with outside vendors for necessary support  Keep owners and plant manager informed on plant equipment status  Clean and keep orderly shop  Assist other departments as necessary  Comply with all company policies and procedures (GMP, HACCP, Critical Safety Rules, SOPs, SSOPs)
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:  Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required. High school diploma or equivalent  Must be able to follow direction from Plant Manager, Owners  Work safely with hazardous plant equipment, tools, and chemicals

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements  Work requires being on your feet for the entire shift  Plant temperatures varies, depending on the time of year  Work shift frequently exceeds 8 hours  Frequent lifting of up 60 lbs  Frequent bending at waits, squatting and walking  Occasional climbing of ladders to adjust machines, connect pipes, etc.  Occasional lifting above head  Exposure to welding and fabrication conditions  Working with oils and solvents  Constant use of hands, fingers and wrists  Uniform pants, shirts, rubber boots supplied by employer  Appropriate shoes for shop environment must be worn  Constant wet, slippery floors, must walk carefully, running not permitted  Daily use of cleaning chemicals and steam supplied by hot water. Safety glasses must be worn.
