Requirements of Position:
If selected for the position, applicants must provide documented proof to qualify for a conditional offer of employment:
  •   A valid Class “C” Driver’s License or higher with a clean driving record.
  •   High School Diploma or G.E.D. certified scores and/or college transcripts.

Definition of Position

Under general supervision, to perform a wide variety of non-sworn field and office law enforcement and animal control tasks, including animal control, parking, traffic and crowd control, collision investigation, criminal investigation, evidence collection, processing evidence, fingerprinting, registration of criminal offenders, abandoned vehicle identification and abatement, report taking, general office work and crime prevention activities. Experience in managing Property and Evidence for a law enforcement agency desired.

Selection Procedure:
All application materials received by the final filing date will be reviewed for accuracy, completeness and job-related qualifications. A limited number of applicants meeting the requirements and demonstrating the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in the interview process. It is, therefore, important that the application be thorough, detailed, and clear. The interview and selection process may consist of a written or practical exams as well as oral panel interviews and an administrative interview, a thorough background investigation, and pre-employment medical, Drug/Alcohol exam. An eligibility list of qualified applicants will be established following the testing and interview process. The list will be in effect for six months.

Current Benefits:
Benefits include vacation and sick leave of approximately 25 days per year; 12 paid holidays; partially paid health, dental, and vision insurance; 2% @ 62 PERS retirement; workers compensation insurance; and uniform allowance.

Wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment are determined through a “Meet and Confer” process and are subject to the Memorandum of Understanding currently in effect. Community Services Officers are part of the Red Bluff Police Officers’ Association Bargaining Unit. The probation period for a Community Services Officer is one year.
