Overview

Reports to: Head Cook

Purpose: Cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, and other products using a variety of equipment and utensils. The Jesus Center is looking for 2 FT Graveyard and 2 PT Swing or Day Shift folks.

Responsibilities:
• Perform routine kitchen such as setting up workstations and ingredients

• Prepare food according to recipes/direction from Head Cook

• Complete Prep List created by Head Cook to plan duties

• Follow instructions as well as observe all health and safety rules in the kitchen

• Understand basic cooking duties

• Carefully supervises food temperatures during cooking, cooling and storing to ensure that the ingredients are kept in a safe temperature zone

• Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by properly cleaning and sanitizing the working surfaces, tools, utensils and working area
• Ensure all food items are received, labeled, and stored properly

• Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems or product shortages to Head Cook

Qualifications:
• Commitment to uphold the values and mission of the Center
• Commitment to working as a team
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
• Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits
• Must be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
• At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
