NEW SALARY RANGE:
Beginning biweekly salary: Level I: $2,275.56 – $2,498.57 Level II: $2,384.35 – $2,618.49
A 5% step increase is provided upon satisfactory completion of the 6-month probationary period.

JOB OPPORTUNITY:
The County of Del Norte, Public Health branch is seeking qualified candidates to fill two (2) vacancies for the position
of Registered Nurse I/II. This position is classified as permanent, full-time. Candidates who meet all the minimum
qualifications may be invited to an oral interview. This recruitment will establish a list of candidates to be used in
filling the vacancy as well as an eligibility list that may be used for future vacancies or temporary help for up to one (1)
year.

CORE COMPETENCE:

Provides professional nursing services in the conduct of various public health programs. Conducts patient
interviews to determine medical history; performs patient evaluations; coordinates the processing of or performs
laboratory tests; interprets test results and advises patients regarding recommended treatment plans; and
provides patient referrals as necessary. Conducts and plans a variety of clinic services in accordance with
established policy and standardized procedure; conducts/participates in clinics – venereal disease, tuberculosis,
triage, and other clinics; administers immunizations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license.
  • Possession of a valid, clear and active license as a Registered Nurse in California, issued by the CA State
    Board of Registered Nursing. You MUST attach a copy of your registration with your application materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Any combination of education, training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Registered Nurse I:
One (1) year of experience as a licensed Registered Nurse.

Registered Nurse II:
Two (2) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse I (or equivalent); and
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; and
Experience in client assessment and case management duties as determined by various program requirements.

Prevention Program Coordinator II: in addition to the above:
Two (2) years’ experience as Prevention Program Coordinator I which included increasing lead staff duties, quality
improvement, program tracking and annual work plan writing.

Desirable Qualifications: A master’s degree in behavioral or social science, public health, education or closely
related field.
