Overview

Rural Human Services is seeking to fill (2) two Helping Hands Advocate openings. There is (1) one full-time with benefits position and (1) one part-time position available. This is a Monday through Friday position. The full-time position will be 8am to 5pm.

The Full-Time position comes with a $300 hiring bonus, the two Part-Time positions come with a $150 hiring bonus (after 30 days you will receive the first half, after 60 days you will receive the final payment).

The primary focus of this entry level position is to provide support to person served maintaining the lifestyle of their choice. Ideally, this promotes healthy choices by assistance with the routine activities an independent lifestyle requires building these skills thereby enabling person served to sustain a home within their community, surrounded by family and friends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Assisting person served in building skills to live in their own homes with support available to deal with the consequences of decisions
Assisting person served with building skills with fiscal management/budgeting matters
Assisting person served with building skills with meal planning, shopping, preparation, cooking, clean up and storage activities
Assisting the person served in building skills with routine household activities aimed at maintaining a clean and safe home
Assisting the person served with building skills towards locating, scheduling, and transporting to appropriate medical, mental health, and dental services
Assisting the person served in building skills to effectively use the transportation system, police, fire, and emergency services available to the general public
Assisting person served in building skills in order to meet with or respond appropriately to governmental agencies and personnel
Assisting person served with communication devices
Assisting person served with inclusion in Social/recreational activities
Assisting person served participate in self-advocacy activities and activities in home or outside in the community
Assisting person served with bathing/dressing/grooming
Assisting person served with range of motion and other exercises
Assisting person served with prosthesis care and assistance
Maintain documentation; case notes, time-sheets, and all person served contacts of records of service delivery for monitoring and billing purposes
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

High School Diploma or equivalent, plus education and/or experience demonstrating ability to work with the developmentally disabled
Knowledge of proper English grammar, usage, and spelling
Able to pass background check, drug screening, DMV print out, and TB Test
Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance *
Certified in CPR/First Aid **
Certified for ServSafe food handlers card
Ability and willingness to communicate and work effectively with supervision and staff as a team member, as well as independently
Ability to follow directions
Have empathy and understanding of the RHS mission/vision statement
Ability to maintain a professional relationship with person served
Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and friendly manner
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work under pressure
Must be computer literate/able to work with various software; spreadsheets/perform basic data entry functions, etc.
