The Product Sales Rep (PSR) leads and coordinates information for purchases and sales of steel products to lumber yards and industrial accounts.

This position will serve the sales lead for steel products and provide area leadership in product pricing. The individual will establish and maintain key industry relationships and coordinate sales activities with account managers. This role determines and executes the most strategic and profitable sale based on factors such as market dynamics and condition, inventory position, customer relations and strategic position, preferred customer status, ability to pay, etc. Some travel area is required to develop and maintain customer and supplier relationships. PSRs demonstrate a passion for achieving profitable sales growth and act with a sense of urgency.

The PSR will be expected to have a complete understanding of the Northern California market, the competitors, customers, and market drivers that make the area unique. This position reports directly to the Area General Manager.


  • The following qualifications are required:
  • Proven ability to develop new customer relationships and grow existing business
  • Strong consultative sales and customer service skills
  • Team player, partners well with inside and outside sales teams
  • Ability to proactively turn customer opportunities into sales orders, and aggressively identify opportunities to up-sell
  • Understands and can articulate the financial drivers of retail, wholesale and construction industry
  • Ability to analyze the customer’s business and develop solutions
  • Minimum 5 years steel sales experience
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational and functional boundaries
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
