Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Patrol the park providing help and information to customers. Provide first response to any injury in the park. Secure the injury site and treat any injuries. Transport patient to the first aid room if necessary. Maintain all hill safety items.

JOB DUTIES: Responsible for patrolling the Ski Park. Administers first aid in a prompt and efficient manner. Perform safe and efficient avalanche control, search and rescue and perform lift evacuation. Transport patient(s) to the first aid room if necessary. Maintain all hill safety items such as tower pads and fence lines. Interact with guest in a friendly and helpful manner. If necessary, must safely operate a snowmobile in all terrain and weather conditions. Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting schedules. Other duties as assigned, may include working in other departments.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ski Patroller must be 18 years of age and in excellent physical health. The ideal candidate will have both previous patrolling and leadership experience and knowledge of avalanche procedures. He or she must possess E.M.T., outdoor emergency care or equivalent and be current in CPR. Must be an expert skier or snowboarder in all conditions and terrain. Have strong interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to perform mountaineering/ski
touring.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT: Mt. Shasta Ski Park is located at 5,500 ft. elevation. Winter conditions can be severe with sub zero temperatures, high wind and heavy snow. Most of the shift will be performed in this environment. Uniform items will be issued.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Must be a strong and competent skier or snowboarder in any and all conditions. Must be in excellent physical health. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and walk uphill through deep now. Must be able to work in cold, wet and windy conditions.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full time seasonal position. Candidate is expected to work 5 days per week, including weekends, holiday and evenings. The work season begins mid December and ends in mid April depending on snow conditions.

REPORTS TO: This position reports to the Ski Patrol Director.

BENEFITS: This is a non-exempt hourly position. Pay is $17/hr -$19/hr Benefits include food and retail discounts and a season pass.
