California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking psychiatrists currently employed with the state of California who are interested in additional appointments to provide after-hours coverage in a part-time capacity, up to 40 hours per month. During the COVID-19 state of emergency, the Mental Health Program will offer Telework options which will be provided based on operational availability. In addition, hiring interviews will be available virtually using teleconferencing or video conferencing options.
These uncommon positions are available to all psychiatrists currently employed by the State of California. The only stipulation is that the additional appointment cannot service the institution where you are currently assigned to work, and you cannot be a supervisor, manager, or executive.
We currently have opportunities at High Desert State Prison, located in the friendly community of Susanville. Nestled in the picturesque foothills of Northeastern California, this is the ideal area for hiking, fishing, camping, and other activities. It’s no wonder Susanville was recognized as one of the top places to live in the United States by Outdoor Life.
