Salary Range (A-F): Supervising Probation Officer: Range 288 (Step A-F $4,101 – $5,233)

Job Description: We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the role of Supervising Probation Officer within the Modoc County Probation Department. As the Supervising Probation Officer, you will represent the pinnacle of the Deputy Probation Officer class series. In this capacity, you will be entrusted with performing intricate professional probation duties with minimal supervision, showcasing your ability to handle complex cases and independently manage programs. A key aspect of this role is your full supervisory responsibility over assigned staff and programs, where you will be tasked with ensuring the effective execution of departmental goals. Moreover, you will be expected to conduct complex professional probation casework and provide invaluable staff assistance to senior management personnel within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing assigned staff and programs with full supervisory responsibilities.
  • Conducting complex professional probation casework.
  • Providing high-level staff assistance to senior management positions within the department.

Reports to: Assistant Chief Probation Officer and Chief Probation Officer
Work Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Education and Experience: The ideal candidate for this position should possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, psychology, sociology, behavioral sciences, or a closely related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Five (5) years of experience in professional probation work equivalent to a Deputy Probation Officer III within Modoc County or a combination of probation work and related fields such as Social Services or law enforcement.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Possession of a valid P.O.S.T. basic certificate.
  • California Peace Officer certification (PC 832 certificate).
