Location: The Trade School at Shasta Builders’ Exchange
Hours: Part-time, Evenings Salary: $40.00 an hour
- Conducts programs in accordance with NCCER Accreditation Guidelines, to train students in the theoretical and practical application of a craft.
- Applies knowledge of craft discipline, equipment, and tooling manuals. Lectures class on, safety, installation, programming, and maintenance following manuals, specifications, blueprints, and schematics, and using hand tools, measuring instruments, and testing equipment. Utilizes the NCCER curriculum, following outline, handouts, and texts, and using visual aids, such as graphs, charts, videotape, and slides.
- Demonstrates procedures being taught safely using best practices; following course outline.
- Observes and evaluates trainees in the laboratory and answers trainees’ questions. Administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees’ performance. Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain information useful to the training facility and integrates information into the training programs.
- Works under the direction of the Dean of the Trade School.
Knowledge and Experience
Qualified applicants must have either a California Journeyman’s card or a Contractor’s license OR have had either of these in the past AND at least 6 years of experience in the field.
Qualified applicants will have knowledge of instructional methods and training techniques including curriculum design principles, learning theory, group and individual teaching techniques, design of individual development plans, and test design principles.
Applicants must be certified by, or willing to be certified by NCCER.
- Conducts training classes to teach and demonstrate principles, techniques, procedures, or methods of designated subjects.
- Presents lectures and conducts discussions to increase students’ knowledge and competence, using visual aids, such as graphs, charts, videotapes, and slides.
- Observes and evaluates students’ work to determine progress, provide feedback, and make suggestions for improvement.
- Assembles materials, supplies, and equipment for training, courses or projects.
- Administers oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate the effectiveness of training.
- Determines training needs of students or workers.
- Corrects, grades, and comments on lesson assignments.
- Prepares reports and maintains records, such as student grades, attendance, training activities, production records, and supply or equipment inventories.
- Corresponds with students and staff.
- Arranges for lectures by subject matter.
- Recommends advancement, transfer, or termination of student or trainee based on mastery of the subject.
- Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions and integrates relevant information into the training programs.
- Solves operational problems and provides technical assistance with equipment and process techniques.
