The Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) is responsible for collaborating with other service providers, family members or other significant supports in client’s life to support treatment goals and to assist the client and family to achieve treatment goals. This positions must maintain confidentiality as it relates to client, personnel, the agency, and all records/documents in line with HIPAA and Youth for Change’ policy and standards. The BHC gathers necessary intake and assessment information and provide case management, rehabilitation services, linkages, collateral, or other services as appropriate to support positive functioning and termination.
Education and/or Experience:
AA Degree in psychology, social work, child development or related field plus 2 years’ experience providing behavioral intervention to children and adolescents with emotional disturbances or intensive needs OR A B.A. or B.S. degree in psychology, social work, child development or related field plus 1 year experience working with children and adolescents with emotional disturbances is preferred
Ability to foster positive relationships with clients, families, and other community program staff to ensure a collaborative approach is used at all times.
Experience with crisis management and/or suicide assessment and prevention
